Bitzer's New Hat is the 13th episode in Series 2 of Shaun the Sheep. It was first broadcast on 9th December 2009.
Summary[]
Bitzer is given a terrible new hat by the Farmer, but Bitzer doesn't want it, so Shaun and the Flock try to get his old hat back.
Plot[]
The episode opens with a ruckus going on inside the farmer's home. Bitzer and the sheep sneak up to investigate. They hear a loud smash coming from the house and see a car backing into the driveway. Suddenly, the farmer's niece bursts out the door. The farmer, exhausted from dealing with his niece's shenanigans, walks outside to see her off. She hands the farmer a present before leaving in the car. The farmer opens the present revealing a pink pompom beanie. He whistles for Bitzer and replaces his blue hat with the new beanie. In the pasture, everyone laughs at Bitzer's pink beanie. Shaun brings a mirror to show Bitzer what he looked like and upon seeing himself he cries. Feeling bad, Shaun tries to get Bitzer's old hat back. He spots the farmer putting the blue hat on a scarecrow and goes to retrieve it, discarding the pink beanie in the garbage bin on the way. Meanwhile, Bitzer is depressed. He blows his nose with a handkerchief given by Timmy's mother and one sheep offers him a brown hat, but Bitzer refuses. Shaun reaches the scarecrow and shakes it to get the hat off only for it to fall into a slop wagon that is pulled away by the farmer. The sheep help Bitzer try on a variety of hats, none of which he liked. The farmer feeds the slop to the pigs and one of them pulls the blue hat out from his mouth. Shaun goes over to the pigs to get it back. The pigs seeing an opportunity to mess with Shaun plays monkey in the middle with the hat before batting it into a nearby tree. Back to Bitzer, the sheep continue helping him try on different hats. Right then, everyone hears Shaun calling from the tree with the blue hat in hand. Unfortunately when Shaun threw it down a duck flying by accidentally caught the hat on it's head, blinding it into flying into an antenna pole on the farmer's roof and leaving the blue hat dangling from the antenna. Bitzer and the sheep form a tower with Shaun wielding a lasso on top to try and get the hat. Shaun manages to loop the lasso onto the antenna but Bitzer falls, bringing everyone down and bending the antenna in a way that launches the hat into the chimney and down into the farmer's fireplace. Shaun and Bitzer rush to the farmer's door. When the farmer opens it, Shaun hides and Bitzer greets the farmer. The farmer opens the garbage lid to throw away the blue hat and sees the pink beanie dumped by Shaun. The farmer puts the pink beanie back on Bitzer's head, angering Bitzer who chases the farmer around. The episode ends with the farmer washing Bitzer's old hat in the sink before giving it back to him. Bitzer happily give a thumbs-up to Shaun who is looking through the window. Shaun gives one back.
